31 Years Ago...
This week at Pop'N Flavors, we’re taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the classic film, 'Poetic Justice.' The movie, starring Janet Jackson as Justice and Tupac Shakur as Lucky, hit theaters 31 years ago today and we couldn’t help but notice that popcorn plays a big role in this iconic film!
That being said, one scene in the movie has stuck with us for years, and we decided it was time to reimagine it with a Pop'N Flavors twist.
An Alternate Ending to an Iconic Film
Remember at the beginning of the movie, when Justice asks her boyfriend for popcorn and Jujubees while at the drive-in theater? Of course, right after he obliges, tragedy strikes and we are immediately swept up into a series of events that lead to Justice mourning the loss of her love. But it didn't end there. She did find love again- both within herself and with Lucky by the end of the film.
But, for us, the ending came too soon! We always wondered how Lucky and Justice fared after that last scene. Did they get married? Do they live happily ever after? These are questions we were never going to get the answers to! So, we decided to re-imagine an alternate ending where Justice- overcoming her fears- returns to the drive-in theater. This time, however, she brings her own popcorn (Pop'N Flavors popcorn, of course!)- a clear nod to the tragic fate her ex-boyfriend met while getting popcorn from the concession stand during her last visit.
The Closure We Needed...
We hope that this campaign reminds you of the transformative power of love and the comforting familiarity of popcorn. Whether we're munching on it in the cinema or seeing it play a pivotal role in a movie, popcorn is undeniably at the heart of so many of the stories we love!
Bottom line: re-imagining this ending gave us the closure we needed… and the perfect way to introduce our new, delicious flavor. Because, remember… at Pop'N Flavors, we believe that every day is National Popcorn Day, so to celebrate, we’ve got a little game for you.
